Class Description

About Our Classes

Kripalu Yoga is a gentle Hatha Yoga using classical postures and breathing techniques to help enter a state of meditation in motion. What defines Kripalu Yoga is its emphasis on “following the flow of the breath, practicing compassionate self-acceptance, developing witness consciousness (observing the activity of the mind without judgment), and taking what is learned „off the mat‟ and into daily life.” Classes usually begin with breathing exercises and gentle stretches followed by asanas or postures and concluding with a final relaxation (savasana).

Gentle Flow 1 classes are based on the Kripalu style of Yoga. The meaning of Kripalu is compassion. It is this compassion for self that allows the student to discover and open the inner being that becomes the heart of this practice. In each class, the emphasis is on proper alignment and fluid transitions linking every movement with the breath. One pose moves easily to the next as each student works to the own ability. Gentle Flow Yoga will reduce stress, increase energy and enhance wellness. This is a great class for beginners of any age, or more experienced practitioners who prefer a meditative practice.

Anusara Inspired Yoga means “flowing with grace” and “following your heart”. It is a therapeutic style of hatha yoga emphasizing alignment with nature and a celebration of the heart.
